Maintenance of memory cards for professionals

Digital cameras have become the choice of many professional photographers’ now and now the question arises how many memory cards are enough when you are going on a shoot? On an average, you need to have at least two, most professional photographer’s carry up to six – seven memory cards.
If they run out of memory on one memory card, just load the fresh memory card. You also might consider having more number of memory cards as just like the traditional canisters, memory cards can very rarely malfunction. An extra memory card always serves as backup.
It is important to take proper care of the memory cards. Memory cards may look fragile but are fairly sturdy. The flash memory is covered with a hard plastic shell to help it with stand the day to day wear and tear. At one end there are little holes, connectors to either the usb cord or the card reader, these are the sensitive part of a memory card. A heavy jolt or voltage could corrupt the memory card and cause permanent damage to it. Otherwise memory cards could be used roughly. There have been instances when users have greatly misbehaved with the memory card and yet the cards have continued to function in the normal way.
When transferring the data from the digital camera to the computer use a memory card reader for faster access. This also gives the freedom using the camera as the pictures are being transferred. X-ray have never shown to corrupt or damage a memory card. Neither is the memory card magnetic in nature.
